What Portfolio Coverage Measures

When someone asks an AI assistant about solutions in your space, does it mention your full range of offerings - or just your flagship product?

Portfolio coverage tracks which of your products and services appear in AI responses, how often they’re mentioned, and whether they’re being recommended or just referenced.

Key Insight

A 0% coverage score for a core product means AI never mentions it in relevant queries. This is a significant gap worth addressing.

Reading Your Coverage Scores

Each product in your portfolio shows a coverage percentage:

  • 80-100%: Excellent - AI consistently mentions this product in relevant queries
  • 50-79%: Good - appears in most relevant conversations
  • 20-49%: Needs attention - missing from many opportunities
  • 0-19%: Critical gap - rarely or never mentioned

Why Products Might Be Missing

Several factors can cause a product to be absent from AI responses:

  • Insufficient online content: If there’s little published content about the product, AI models won’t have enough information to reference it.
  • Poor SEO or discoverability: Content exists but isn’t structured in ways that AI can easily parse and cite.
  • Recent launch: Newer products may not yet be in AI training data. This is especially true for models that don’t have real-time web access.
  • Overshadowed by flagship: Your main product dominates your online presence, making other offerings harder for AI to discover.
  • Naming confusion: Generic or unclear product names can make it hard for AI to distinguish your offering from competitors.

Improving Coverage

When you spot coverage gaps, the Action Center generates specific recommendations to address them. These might include content creation, source optimization, or technical improvements depending on why the product is missing.

It varies. Search-augmented models like Perplexity can pick up new content within days. Other models may take longer depending on when they update. Creating content on authoritative third-party sites can help accelerate visibility across all platforms.
