90 days, by the numbers
In June, AI assistants brought up Integuru only when the question already contained its name. By September, most of its Google traffic came from pages that had not existed three months earlier, for questions that never mention it.
| Metric | After 90 days |
|---|---|
| Pages shown in Google’s AI answers each week | 58× |
| Google clicks per week | 2.7× |
| AI answers built from Integuru’s pages | 8× |
Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and BrandViz.AI weekly reports, 8 June to 7 September 2026. The AI-answer figure is from BrandViz.AI’s weekly tracking.
Who is Integuru, and what was at stake
Integuru builds APIs for platforms that never published one. When a customer needs data out of a property management system or a clinic’s scheduling tool with no public API, Integuru works out how the platform talks to itself and turns that into a documented endpoint. Backed by Y Combinator, founded by Richard Zhang and Alan Lu, and selling into healthcare, logistics, fintech, real estate and legal.
Integuru’s own published figures, integuru.com, September 2026.
Integuru’s buyers do most of their deciding before they get in touch. The website met the people those conversations had already reached, and search brought the people who already knew it. Nothing measured how AI assistants described the company, or whether a prospect had read anything before the call.
We were only getting branded search, from people who already knew us. But we wanted to drive more inbound customers. Especially in the AI age, where people’s inboxes are filled with spam, inbound is becoming more and more important. So we thought it was important that we help with discovery too, through working on AEO and GEO.
Richard Zhang, Co-Founder & CEO, InteguruWhat that cost showed up in the sales conversation, on the calls that did happen.
If our name is not known, it is much harder to convince someone to procure our product. There are still ways to convince them. But if they already know about us, and they have already done the research on our website, read the necessary content, either themselves or through chatting with their agents, it makes the entire conversation a lot smoother.
Richard Zhang, Co-Founder & CEO, InteguruThe bet
Richard tried to build it himself first, and his reason for stopping is also his reason for using a vendor at all.
I explored building an agentic system in-house, but doing it properly required more bandwidth than we had. I valued Brandviz’s system and its experience across customers.
Richard Zhang, Co-Founder & CEO, InteguruHe looked at software and at other providers, and chose an early-stage vendor for a reason that had nothing to do with either.
Your commitment to customers mattered to me. I’m comfortable working with an early-stage company when I believe that commitment is genuine.
Richard Zhang, Co-Founder & CEO, InteguruHe made the call knowing what it was. Results in this channel are months out, nobody can guarantee them, and the money is real every month.
I understood that results could take three to six months and could not be guaranteed. I saw this as an investment and was willing to take that risk.
Richard Zhang, Co-Founder & CEO, InteguruTwo weeks in, the plan changed
The scope at signup was 30 to 40 pieces of content. The first two weeks went on analysis before anything was produced, and what came back changed the shape of the work.
Integuru’s buyers do not search for an integration category but for the platform they are stuck on, and Integuru supports hundreds of them. On those questions, nobody had yet written an answer worth an assistant’s citation. Forty pieces, however good, could not meet that many buyers where they arrive.
So the sprint grew. By day 90 it had shipped close to 200 pages, built around the three reasons someone lands on integuru.com:
- The platform they need to pull data from. A guide for each system, specific and honest about what that platform allows.
- The approach a developer is weighing. Posts written for the question just before someone would need Integuru, not for what Integuru sells.
- The industry they work in. The industry pages rebuilt in depth, in each sector’s own language, with nothing already ranking lost in the move.
Underneath, the site’s technical foundations were brought up to what AI assistants expect, and BrandViz.AI’s weekly reports showed which pages assistants were reading and quoting.
Feedback landed in Slack the same day and pull requests merged within a day or two. The whole 90 days cost Richard under ten hours, less than an hour a week.
Doing this ourselves would have taken substantially more of my time, which is why I wanted to work with you.
Richard Zhang, Co-Founder & CEO, InteguruWhat arrived, in order
- Two weeks
- Copilot was citing Integuru’s pages within a fortnight of the first changes shipping, and has kept citing them daily since.
- July
- The posts indexed and clicks began arriving from questions that never mention the company. By late July Perplexity was citing Integuru regularly.
- Mid-August
- The new pages began attracting relevant search traffic during the sprint.
- 19 August
- A prospect booked a sales call after finding Integuru through an AI answer, with no referral behind it. On Richard’s count, several have come that way.
- September
- Pages shown in Google’s AI answers each week were up 58-fold. Google clicks were up 2.7-fold, and the final month alone doubled them.
What is still compounding
Several sales calls have come through AI search on Richard’s count, and more follow as the pages age: at day 90 most of these pages were less than eight weeks old, and hundreds of new queries sit on the first two pages of Google, still climbing.
Visibility varied across AI assistants and continued developing as the pages aged.
I was not expecting magic in three months. But if we are walking up a mountain and making good progress, I can see how this path leads to where we want to go.
Richard Zhang, Co-Founder & CEO, InteguruWhat changed for Integuru
In June the website confirmed what a prospect had already been told, and it is now the place they find out.
It’s a whole system. We can think of our website as an entire system that targets many different angles, reasons, and motives from visitors. We have now laid out a very strong foundation for covering the different reasons for visiting our site: you have the people trying to learn about a specific platform, and you also have people trying to learn how to integrate with a website that lacks APIs.
Richard Zhang, Co-Founder & CEO, InteguruThe decision that followed is the one that counts. Offered the self-serve platform at the end of the sprint, Integuru chose to keep the managed engagement running on the same weekly cadence.
I like the way that we have been working, and I would like to continue with that.
Richard Zhang, Co-Founder & CEO, InteguruOn the work itself, he calls it “the exact experience I was looking for”, and asked for one thing in particular to go in this study, about David Andersen, BrandViz’s co-founder and CTO.
I really appreciate David. He is very detail-oriented.
Richard Zhang, Co-Founder & CEO, InteguruIs your category owned in AI answers, or just empty?
A category with an entrenched leader takes years to enter, while a category nobody has bothered to answer takes a quarter. Most companies have never checked which they are in, and the check is cheap: ask an assistant the question your buyer asks, the one without your name in it, and read what it quotes. If the answer is a forum post from 2021, the ground is unclaimed and the work is to occupy it before someone else does.
